Monroe is a charming small town in the heart of the Peach State. Founded in 1821, Monroe is home to historic buildings and sites like the Monroe County Courthouse and the Sweet Auburn district. There's plenty of shopping, dining, and cultural experiences to be had in Monroe, and the locals are warm and welcoming. Monroe is a great place to live, home to friendly people and beautiful scenery. There are plenty of things to do in the area, and the schools are excellent. Architecture in Monroe is a mix of old and new. The older buildings are made of brick and mortar, while the newer buildings are mostly made of wood. There is a courthouse on the town square that's over a hundred years old, and there is also a new hotel that's been built in the past few years.
